Developing Empowering Relationships

Experience authentic power through mutual respect

A one-day experiential workshop
No horse experience necessary

As we begin to relate to horses, we learn some amazing things – how we can clearly contribute to a relationship by honouring our companion’s strengths and recognizing our own.

Horses can be intimidating creatures. They are large and powerful, keenly aware of their environment and with a strongly developed flight response due to their place on the food chain. We are small, weak and slow compared to them, and yet we often see people directing the behaviour of horses.

Phenomenal things can happen when the strength and power of a horse can be directed and influenced by the thoughts, emotions and energy of a human. This happens most brilliantly when the handler has earned the trust and respect of the horse. Combining and honouring the talents of each leads to a much greater result than either could achieve alone.

Becoming clear on our own emotions helps us to become a leader that has earned the trust of those we are in any relationship with. Honouring the perspectives of others helps build the relationships that feed our souls. The lessons we learn from these experiences relating to the horses are directly applicable to our relationships with humans, too.

Come play with us and grow your relational skills. You CAN do it, too!

Maximum of 12 participants.  COST: $95 plus GST.

WE Book Club

Hello Everyone

We had a beautiful evening for our drive out to Shane’s in High River.  Many thanks to our chauffeur’s Vera and Audrey.  We had a great evening discussing Denmark while feasting on a Danish smorgasbord and sipping on Akvait!  A big thank you to Shane for hosting and providing such wonderful snacks. Denmark turned out to have a fairly peaceful past with an emphasis on the equality of it’s people, which was a nice change from many other countries we have visited.

We will take a break for the summer and resume in September, when we will be off to Austria, the birthplaces of Mozart, Adolf Hitler and Arnold Schwarzenegger!  Wow, that should give us some interesting reading!

Enjoy your summer and . . . . we’ll see you in September!

TOPIC:   Living a Life of Purpose, Passion and Personal Power

SPEAKER:   Jocelyn Hastie

Facilitating personal growth through experiencing the gentleness, beauty, majesty and wisdom of the horse

Mustangs.  My Little Pony.  The Calgary Stampede Rodeo.  Spruce Meadows.  Cavalia.  The Horse Whisperer.  National Velvet. Seabiscuit.  Secretariat.  Equines call up visions of power and freedom, of longing for connection with that wild part of ourselves that sometimes gets lost in a busy, modern world.

Horses are an integral part of my life.  I believe they give me a mirror to “check in” on my personal progress and spirituality.  My world was changed forever when I met first Trigger, then Lila.  My personal journey to living an authentic life was kick-started by these noble creatures.  Their honesty and transparency humbles me, and they see through to my soul.  They see my true intentions clearly – often more clearly than I do – and their sensitivity to and forgiveness of my human frailties is inspiring.  They get it right when I get it right, and the more often I work with them, the more I learn about understanding and accepting that the perceptions of others (either two legged or four legged) are every bit as valid and reasonable to them as mine are to me.

Twenty years ago, I was nearing thirty, climbing the corporate ladder in downtown Calgary working for a major oil company and trying to be the perfect corporate wife.  Then I had the opportunity to be around horses for the first time and although I thought they were breathtakingly beautiful, they scared the soup out of me.  I preferred to brush them from across the fence in my efforts to keep myself safe.

My world is a very different place now.  I live with my horses and dogs on 120 acres half an hour from the city limits.  I haven’t left corporate life behind, but now I work ten minutes from the farm and have two afternoons off each week to work and play with the horses.  I run a herd of two yearlings, three stallions, six mares, and five geldings.  Every day, I touch the animals, get my hands dirty and go to bed tired.  This is not the life for everyone, but for me, it lets me live in my truth and touches my soul.  It also provides a place where others can come and test their authenticity, face their fear and practice standing calmly in their own power side by side with a horse – a marvellous being that lives in authenticity every moment of every day.  I am exceedingly grateful for the opportunity to share that with you.

TOPIC: Living in a Toxic World

SPEAKER: Dr. Margaret Norwotarki

Chemicals in Our Environment

We live in a toxic world with chemicals. Each year more than 4 billion pounds of toxins and pollutants are released into the environment. They are everywhere – in water, food, soil, air, dust, and everyday products and objects at home and in the workplace.

Those environmental toxins have a wide range of damaging effects upon the human system and often we don’t realize that we are being affected by them until we come down with a health condition after years of exposure to a combination of these chemicals.

What can we do? How can we protect ourselves and the health of our children from harmful environmental exposures?

There are many circumstances out of our control and it’s impossible to eliminate all the chemicals from our life, however we can control and influence our immediate home environment and reduce the exposure as far as possible.

Please join us and learn about the solutions how you can protect yourself and your loved ones from the hidden dangers of chemicals in your environment and how you can create a healthy and toxin free home.

BEV TOSH – Speaker

Topic: Bottled Tears: the Stow-away War Bride

Experience the power and connectivity of story-telling as you explore “one of the strangest migrations in modern history” (BBC). In the wake of World War Two, tens of thousands of war brides made one-way voyages to their husbands’ distant homelands. Imagine forsaking home and family to walk up a gangplank in the 1940s to embark on a solitary journey – a leap of faith.

Enjoy a visually-rich multimedia presentation as artist Beverley Tosh weaves the tales of lasses who came of age in wartime Britain, the extraordinary events that followed as they found themselves transplanted from Newfoundland to New Zealand. Her passion resonates as it blends women’s history, storytelling, art and artifact. Bottled Tears demonstrates the power of love and redemption; it educates, entertains, and empowers.

This presentation is scheduled to coincide with the 65th anniversary of most war brides’ voyages when troopships doubled as “bride ships” ferrying their cargoes of women to distant shores. Marie’s story is unique. She was a stow-away…

Beverley Tosh, MFA, RCA is the daughter of a Second World War pilot and his war bride. An acclaimed artist (Master of Fine Arts, Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, Distinguished Alumna of the Alberta College of Art & Design), she has lectured and exhibited internationally. Her awards include Woman of Vision (YWCA), the Alberta Centennial Medal and the Rotary Club’s Integrity Award. Bev lives and works in Calgary.

SPEAKER: Betty Cooper

Topic: SPEAK WITH POWER

Winning through “Power Speaking”

In today’s technologically focused world, people will no longer stand or sit quietly by while someone “prattles on”. To get listeners to “buy-in” to what you are say, you need to speak with power and persuasion. AND you need to keep your comments both brief and focused. Listeners are influenced by such things as television. Where TV ads used to be a minute long, advertisements today are as short as TWO SECONDS!

This Keynote shows an audience how to Hook; Hold; and Handle any one they may be speaking. They will learn the Seven Secret Keys of Connecting when you speak – and how to apply successfully.

SPEAKER: Annette Stanwick

Topic: FORGIVE – LET GO – LIVE FREE

Professional Speaker, Award-Winning Author and

Global Freedom Facilitator

“Annette Stanwick talks about things we all need to hear,

in ways no one else could possibly talk about!”

Hello! I’m Annette Stanwick. I’m one of thousands of professional speakers you’ll find on the Internet. I’m also one of even thousands more who’ve written a book. So, what is it that makes me different than the thousands of other speakers and authors?

As a Freedom Facilitator I speak on topics that make a profound difference in the way you relate to yourself, to life experiences and the way you relate to others-in your workplace, in your community and right there in your own home and in your family.

With decades of experience as a health care executive I empathize with the challenges of leadership, but I also have a deep appreciation for the importance of relationships in everything we do.

I talk about overcoming the struggles that we all face form time to time-like facing our fears, dealing with frustration, finding our way through relationship issues and other trials that come our way. I talk about resolving conflicts, and the challenges of overcoming trauma, grief and even murder.

Many are astonished that I could forgive my brother’s murderer. Some have called me a Forgiveness Ambassador, not only because I’ve written FORGIVENESS: THE MYSTERY AND MIRACLE, but because I empower audiences to let go of the tuff stuff that hurts, moving them to a place of peace and freedom, and a life of growth and success in spite of painful past experiences.

I speak from a heart of compassion that understands what you’re going through because I’ve been there. But I also speak with a heart of joy and enthusiasm because my deep faith in God has helped me experience the exhilarating freedom of rising above some very difficult situations..

You see, I believe we all will experience difficulties of some type-we can’t prevent that, but it’s our personal choices in those situations that make all the difference. Throughout my life I’ve been inspired by others who’ve conquered their difficulties and have emerged to a life of liberated joy in spite of their own unique circumstances.

My passion is to inspire, guide and bring you hope in spite of the difficulties you face. My goal is to help you see life through another set of lenses that will challenge you to think and act in a way that propels you into a life of success, happiness and freedom from pain.

FORGIVENESS: The Mystery and Miracle is profoundly touching and transforming.

This book heals hearts and lives through the power of personal choice and forgiveness.
